Male Grooming Routine

You want to look good for yourself and the ladies, and that’s why male grooming is so important. Here we are going to look at what it takes to look fantastic on any given day. It will boost both your confidence and ego, knowing that you look fabulous all the time.

Water; you can’t have enough of it

If you want skin like the gods shown on you, then you’ll need to keep hydrated. It’s easier to get into other grooming routines when you have perfect skin.

Water does have the ability to clear any acne and blemishes from your skin, all the while giving you an inner glow. When your skin is like that, it’s a definite sign of health.

Not only will your peers notice it, but the women in your life will also waste no time acknowledging it.

That said, we need to talk about the temperature to use on your body. Your skin thrives best with lukewarm water, making it a fantastic base for whatever soap you wish to use.

Therefore, forget the myth about pores opening and closing to hot or cold water. Keep it lukewarm as it reduces the chances of skin irritation and redness.

Your mouth

clean your mouth

It’s surprising how many neglects this crucial part of grooming. No one likes bad breath, but some men seem to be acutely unaware of this. Brushing, flossing, and gaggling mouthwash should be an integral part of your grooming and overall hygiene.

Research shows that you want to use an electric toothbrush because it reduces plaque by 11 percent. It also does all the work for you as you’re cleaning your teeth. Ensure that you brush at least twice a day so that your breath remains fresh all day.

You can also have some mints with you and sugar-free gum for when you grab that hot dog at lunch. You don’t want to frustrate people in that afternoon meeting with garlic breath or remnants of what you had for lunch.

Shower

good grooming

As mentioned, keep the water warm when you’re taking a shower. Hot showers leave the skin dry and, at best, resembling a lobster. You may want to draw smiley faces on the misty shower door or recreate a steamy scene from the movies, but for your skin’s wake, refrain from it.

You also don’t want to spend an eternity there too, as you’ll come out looking like a prune. The longer you stay in the shower, the more you’re stripping your body of its natural oils.

Caring for that beard

While in the shower, give your beard a good rinse. It’s best to do that if you’re a daily shaver. You want to have a more comfortable time shaving, especially if you’re doing a clean shave.

It’s also advisable that you do the shaving while in the shower if you want to get the best shave possible. For the best trim, you want to go with the grain as it’s less likely to irritate the skin and cause those razor rashes we all hate.

When it comes to caring for your beard, don’t cut costs as the evidence of the same will show up on your face. Invest in a shaver that’s worth its salt and shaving foam or soap that has a reputation.

It might hurt your pocket if you’re not used to it, but you’ll see how worthwhile it is once you’re getting the right kind of attention. After you’re done, wash off the foam.

Cleanse your face

Beauty Treatment, Face Mask, Girl, Woman, Skin Care

There is this old myth that still goes round that men are only to use soap and water to clean their faces. The male skin also needs the same care and attention that females give it.

That is why there has been in the market products for men.

That is why you, as a man, need to use a cleanser. You want something light, and that is unscented that is good for your skin. You also don’t want to bog down your face with the product.

You want your skin looking young at all times- the old routines don’t work anymore for the modern man.

So what do you go for? Look for something with natural ingredients. It might mean you are standing on the aisle looking at products at the back of a bottle, but it is worth it.

You want to mind what you’re putting on your face. If it sounds like a chemical from a lab, put the bottle back on the shelf. If you see ingredients such as aloe, tea tree, olive oil, and the like, then you’re on the right track.

You also don’t want to have breakouts from using the wrong kind of product.

Scrub that skin

After a while, your face will begin to look dull. That’s because there is stuff stuck in your pores that need some extra kind of work to get them out. That is where a scrub comes in.

You can use it once or twice a week just to rid your skin of gunk and dead skin cells. Once that layer is off, you’re left with a layer of brilliant skin that glows.

Even you’ll notice the difference one; you stick to a skincare routine. The good thing is that even when you forget, looking at yourself in the mirror, you’ll be able to tell when you’re due for a scrub.

Do take it easy when you’re scrubbing. You don’t want to irritate your skin.

That’s why doing so once or twice a week is enough — doing so more times than that strips your skin of the natural oils, leaving your dry and prone to breakouts.

Moisturize

skincare

After you’ve scrubbed and cleaned your skin, at that point, it is pretty vulnerable to the outside environment. That is why you want to put a barrier between the skin and those dust particles that will land on your face.

Invest in a good moisturizer.

Get something that hydrates the skin, even better if you get something with antioxidants. Something with chamomile and green tea will do just that for you.

Moisturizers also keep the skin clear as it locks in all the goodness of the routine you’ve done before this part. Get a little help from the store attendant to determine what your skin type is.

If you have oily skin, the last thing you need is a moisturizer that’s packed with oils. You’ll need something lighter, and that reduced the shine. Therefore, it is essential to know your skin type, not just when you’re getting a moisturizer but pretty much all the other facial products mentioned.

That said, you’ll have to come and learn and understand your skin if you’re to get the right product. It might take you a while, but it is worth shopping around for products until you get the one that works uniquely for you.

See your barber regularly

Barber, Chair, Salon, Hairdresser, Shop, Beard, Male

Groomed men have to put in the work and effort to look as good as they do. That’s why you need to make it to the barber every four weeks or so to maintain that perfect cut.

There is an awkward length that hair gets to, and people notice that you’re due for a cut.

Also, when you’re a regular at the barber, they know what cut you’re looking for, so you don’t have to be overly worried if they will cut it too short and leave you looking, well, off.

Hair care products

Your shower gel is not doing any favors for your hair. If you want to maintain that god-life shine in your hair, then you have to invest in the right products. The reality with that is that you will be frustrated at first.

There is a ton of shampoos and conditioners in the market that it’s hard to know what works and what doesn’t. They also go at various price points, so you have a lot to choose from.  Just as with other products, you want to go with shampoos that use natural products.

Your hair deserves the best too.

When it comes to waxes and sprays, you’ll need some guidance from your barber. They know your hair- thick or thin hair- and what products will get your hair to behave itself when you’re out in public all day.

They can tell you what products to try out, but ultimately it’s the results you get that will determine if you want to stick to that brand or get something else.

Again, trial and error, but once you get the right combination of products, and then you’re set for life. Also, switch it up once in a while as you don’t want your hair stuck on one diet for life.

Make your stamp with the right scent

If you want people to go ‘yep, he just in the elevator a few seconds ago,’ then you need to find a signature scent. Even so, you’re not to put the entire bottle of aftershave on your face.

Put just enough so that people can know it’s you, but not too much that they are left gagging and wishing you’d stop putting too much aftershave. Also, you want to invest in about two bottles, one for every day wear and another for when you’re about to hit the town.

You may want to splurge on the bottles because no one, yourself included, likes the smell of cheap aftershave. Shop around the market for what you want. You can go woody, spicy, citrus and the like.

Get something that you will indeed enjoy wearing, as you’ll be stuck with it before the bottle is over. It’s okay to experiment for a while.

Get sample size bottles so that you don’t spend too much on something you don’t like. Do remember that bodies interact differently with scents; what your buddy uses will smell slightly different on your skin.
